There have been only eleven Thoroughbreds to win the Triple Crown. Eddie Arcaro rode two of them, Whirlaway (1941) and Citation (1948). Who are the other 9 jockeys?

Eddie Arcaro rode Thoroughbreds through four decades. He is the only jockey to pilot two Triple Crown champions. He was sought out specifically to ride the mind-of-his-own Whirlaway, a talented and popular, but stubborn champion who had discouraged other jockeys.

Nicknamed Mr. Long Tail, for his abundant and long red tail which flowed like a rudder behind him when he was in full stride, Whirlaway pounded his competition in the three classic races and gave Arcaro his first Triple Crown championship in 1941.

Seven years later, Arcaro repeated the three-race-win drama aboard the unstoppable Citation. Arcaro's second Triple Crown in 1948 was also a matter of calling. Citation's regular jockey, Al Snider, was apparently killed in a boating accident in the Florida Everglades. His body was never found. And Arcaro got Citation, one of the best Thoroughbreds ever to grace a racing track.

Here are the other nine Triple Crown champions.

In the decade of the '70s, three male TC champions were crowned. Ruffian also won the filly Triple Crown (1975). Who regularly rode Ruffian and her eventual match race partner, Foolish Pleasure, and who was Forego's last jockey?
