Many repeat parentage lines show up in the families of the American Triple Crown winners. English origins of Sir Gallahad and Blenheim strengthened 1930s lines.

When English stallions were imported to add to the American Thoroughbred ancestry, stronger animals resulted. Gallant Fox, the 1930 Triple Crown winner, was a direct progeny of English influence. His size, 1,200 pounds, and height, 16.1 hands, headed American breeding in a new direction.

American Thoroughbreds thrived on the new mix of English and American lineage. Triple Crown winners began to sprinkle the landscape. There were three in the 1930s as the English lines of Sir Gallahad and Blenheim pulled their weight.

Grandparents and Great Grandparents of 1930s Triple Crown winners:

1919 -- Sir Barton wins the American Triple Crown (although that handle for the three classic races wasn't widely used until as late as 1936).

Isinglass was Sir Barton's paternal grandsire, and his maternal grandsire was Hanover. Isinglass was by Isonomy, and out of Deadlock. Hanover was by Hindoo, and out of Bourbon Belle. Astrology was Isinglass's mate, and she was by Hermit, and out of Stella. Aquila, the only foreign bred in Sir Barton's grandparentage, was Hanover's mate. She was by Sterling, and out of Eagle.

1930 -- Gallant Fox wins the American Triple Crown.

Gallant Fox's daddy was Sir Gallahad III, by Teddy, and out of Plucky Liege. Teddy was by Ajax, and out of Rondeau. Plucky Liege was by Spearmint, and out of Concertina. Marguerite, Gallant Fox's mama, was by Celt, and out of Fairy Ray. Celt was by Command, and out of Maid of Erin. Fairy Ray's sire was Radium, and her dam was Seraph.

Sir Gallahad III, Teddy, and Fairy Ray were foreign breds.

Omaha was sired by Gallant Fox. His dam was Flambino, out of Flambette, and sired by Wrack. Flambette's parentage was La Flambee (dam) and Durbar II (sire). Wrack was by Robert le Diable, and out of Samphire.

Wrack, Flambette, Durbar II, and La Flambee were foreign breds.

1937 -- War Admiral wins the American Triple Crown.

War Admiral's daddy is a world wide household name, Man o' War, who was one of the greatest American sires. War Admiral was also hugely successful at stud. His lines still trace to current champions.

Brushup, War Admiral's dam, was by Sweep, and out of Annette K. Ben Brush sired Sweep and Pink Domino was his mate. Annette K. was by Harry of Hereford, and out of Bathing Girl.
